In 2016, the Nielson Global Retail Loyalty Sentiment Report found that when all else is equal, over 70 percent of shoppers worldwideare more likely to buy from a retailer offering a loyalty am than who is not.More than 65 percent of the shoppers out there are joining loyalty programs for the free products and discounts that are offered. Five retailers who receive high praise for their retailer loyalty programs are CVS, Starbucks, Walgreens, JCPenney and Amazon.

CVS ExtraCare Rewards

CVS tops many shoppers ‘lists when discussing best retailer loyalty programs currently available. The CVS customer loyalty program is known as ExtraCare Rewards, providing members with the benefits of ExtraBucks Rewards and ExtraSavings. The ExtraBucks rewards offering provides members with a 2 percent return on their daily purchases. The retailer loyalty program allows customers to earn money back in rewards and provides coupons based on their shopping history. CVS also provides members with $1 in for every two prescription refills. Members are provided with a card and have access to a mobile app online.

My Starbucks Rewards

Starbucks may not be the conventional retailer, but the program they offer is near the forefront of most conversations centered on incentivizing customer loyalty.  Members of the Starbucks Rewards program can earn two stars for each single dollar spent. The rewards stars can be redeemed and used to receive complimentary drinks and food. Rewards program members are also eligible to enjoy free refills in the store and complimentary rewards on their birthday. App users even qualify for one free song a week from iTunes. As members own more stars, the rewards increase in value. The program currently lets members earn and save at three different reward levels.

Walgreens Balance Rewards

The Balance Rewards Program allows consumers to save money on purchases they routinely, such as filling prescriptions or getting pictures developed. Members can also qualify to receive $50 off future Walgreens purchases by collecting rewards points. This program also provides exclusive access to offers designated for members only. Some of the other benefits offered by the free rewards program include special sales prices, coupons on electronics and getting rewarded for making healthier choices.

JCPenney Rewards

This retailer loyalty program is designed to allow members to turn points earned from purchases into future rewards. Members are awarded a single JCPenney Rewards point per dollar spent on eligible purchases using a JCPenney credit card. Without the department store credit card, you can still receive one rewards point for every $2 spent using an alternative method. Once members accumulate 200 points, the department store sends a Rewards certificate worth $10. This program also makes shoppers eligible to enjoy Perk Rewards that can be used for purchasing bras and shoes. Simply put, the JCPenney Rewards program offers shoppers a $10 gift card back for every $100 spent in the store.

Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime is the paid loyalty program offered by one of the largest retailers in the world. The leading benefit of the $100 annual subscription is the unlimited, free 2-day shipping available for millions of products. However, there are an increasing number of additional benefits that are compelling more consumers to make the commitment. The Prime Now option actually offers members a free, same-day window for delivering certain items.

The widely popular Prime Instant Video platform allows members to view an unlimited number of streaming movies and TV shows. Members can also use the Prime Music offering to enjoy an unlimited amount of streaming music.  Prime members also have earlier access to Lightning Deals, exclusive access to Prime Day deals  and receive another of other benefits like the Prime Pantry service for groceries.
